The challenge

With Windows 10 support ending on October 14, 2025, organizations were under real pressure to modernize: after that date Microsoft stops providing free security updates and technical support, leaving unpatched systems exposed. Reliance and GDI both needed to move to Windows 11, but they came at it from very different positions.

Reliance, a national utility and infrastructure services provider, was running across 15 different hardware models with no standardized image. Endpoint management was fragmented and application deployments were inconsistent and slow, so it needed a consistent, secure deployment strategy built to scale. GDI, a national facility services organization, was at an earlier stage: before committing to an enterprise rollout it wanted to validate readiness with a low-disruption pilot that could test compatibility, confirm licensing, and define servicing policies with minimal risk.

Our approach

BITSUMMIT delivered a dual-track Windows 11 migration: one track built for large-scale deployment, the other for low-risk validation, each shaped to where its client actually stood.

Reliance and GDI dual-track Windows 11 migration: a Reliance track standardizing 15 hardware models into one custom image with 6 packaged apps for SCCM and BigFix deployment, and a GDI track running a 25-device Intune validation pilot, both on a shared playbook ahead of the Windows 10 end-of-support deadline, designed by BITSUMMIT

Reliance: a foundation for scalable deployment

BITSUMMIT ran compatibility testing across all 15 hardware models, then built a custom Windows 11 image with corporate branding and current security patches and packaged six key applications into it, FortiClient VPN, Microsoft Office, Chrome, Rise, Zoho Assist, and endpoint protection. The pre-tested image was handed off ready for enterprise deployment through SCCM and BigFix, turning a fragmented estate into something repeatable.

GDI: proving readiness, reducing risk

For GDI the work was about evidence before commitment. BITSUMMIT ran a full Microsoft 365 and operating-system readiness assessment, executed a 25-device pilot via Intune in two controlled phases, and delivered a tailored upgrade plan, servicing-policy recommendations, and a detailed readiness report, so leadership could decide on real-world validation rather than assumptions.

A shared playbook across both

Both tracks ran on the same disciplined playbook: role-based access and license validation maintained from start to finish, upgrade summaries, validation reports, and servicing documentation delivered throughout, and a transparent billing model with milestone checkpoints and hourly tracking.

The outcome

Reliance now runs on a fully standardized, secure Windows 11 image that is fast to deploy, production-ready, and scalable across the enterprise, moving its IT operations from fragmented to streamlined. GDI comes out of the proof-of-concept phase with clarity and confidence: real-world validation, strategic guidance, and a secure roadmap for full rollout.

With BITSUMMIT's tailored, dual-track approach, both organizations moved from reactive IT environments toward future-ready infrastructure, each ahead of the deadline and on its own terms.

A standardized, secure Windows 11 image ready to scale, and an Intune pilot proving readiness - both delivered ahead of the Windows 10 end-of-support deadline.
