BITSUMMIT embedded a Lead Infrastructure Engineer at Ernst & Young for a zero-downtime cloud migration, improving performance and meeting GDPR and ISO 27001.

Ernst & Young was migrating critical infrastructure to the cloud for one of its clients, and the work sat at the intersection of two hard constraints: a globally complex environment that demanded advanced security, and a timeline that left no room to learn on the job. EY needed senior cloud-architecture leadership to run the migration, and it needed that leadership immediately.
Pulling people off EY's live operations to cover it was not an option. The team had to be augmented with someone who could take ownership of the migration while keeping security, scalability, and reliability intact, all without EY losing focus on the work already in flight. That is what EY asked BITSUMMIT to provide.
EY needed senior cloud-infrastructure leadership on a high-stakes migration, quickly, and without pulling its own people off live operations. BITSUMMIT embedded an experienced Lead Infrastructure Engineer into EY's project team to own the migration end to end rather than advise from the sidelines.

Integrate and lead from day one
The engineer joined EY's existing infrastructure team with minimal onboarding and took a leadership role straight away, setting the strategic direction and managing the cloud migration hands-on.
Plan, migrate, and tune
Working with EY's IT leadership, the engineer defined a detailed migration strategy with the risks identified and mitigations in place, then managed the technical move so systems transitioned to the cloud with minimal downtime. After cutover, performance assessments tuned the environment for efficiency and scalability.
Build security into the design
Security measures were integrated into the new cloud infrastructure to meet GDPR and ISO 27001, and automated threat detection and response were stood up to protect EY's data and systems against emerging threats.
Hand the knowledge back
Training and knowledge transfer left EY's internal team able to run the new cloud and security setup independently, with ongoing support to resolve anything that surfaced after go-live.
The migration completed with no unplanned downtime, so EY's global operations ran uninterrupted throughout, and the system tuning the engineer carried out lifted infrastructure performance by 15%.
Security and compliance were stronger on the other side: the new environment met GDPR and ISO 27001, and the added threat monitoring meaningfully reduced cyber risk. The work also finished inside EY's tight timeline, which let them hit their business objectives on schedule and avoided the extra cost that overruns or downtime would have brought.
