Position Details
BITSUMMIT is hiring a Project Manager to run professional services engagements end to end. Our projects are fixed-scope commitments: assessments, cloud migrations, tenant consolidations, virtualization rollouts, security remediations, and infrastructure modernization. They are scoped and costed before work starts, delivered by named senior engineers, with rollback paths built into every cutover. Your job is to keep that promise, project after project.
This is not a status-taking role. You will work directly with practice leads, senior engineers, client stakeholders, and third-party vendors, and we expect you to understand the work well enough to challenge an estimate, spot a risk before it lands, and hold a vendor to their commitments. You will often run several engagements at once, across clients in regulated industries where downtime, audit findings, and failed cutovers carry real cost.
Responsibilities
- Own delivery of concurrent professional services projects from kickoff through closeout: scope, schedule, budget, risk, and change control.
- Build and maintain project plans, RAID logs, and milestone schedules that reflect how the work actually gets done, not just how it was sold.
- Run client-facing governance: kickoffs, weekly status, steering-committee updates, and reporting that client leadership can actually read.
- Coordinate named engineers, client teams, and third-party vendors through migration waves and cutovers, protecting change windows and rollback paths.
- Manage scope with discipline: catch drift early, document and price changes honestly, and keep statement-of-work commitments intact.
- Track project financials with our operations team: budget burn, milestones, invoicing triggers, and margin health.
- Feed delivery lessons back into how we scope and estimate, and contribute to proposals for new engagements.
- Help mature our PMO: templates, runbooks, and delivery standards that make every project more predictable than the last.
Requirements
- 5+ years managing IT infrastructure, cloud, or workplace technology projects, ideally in a consulting or professional services environment where you answered to a client, not just an internal sponsor.
- A track record of delivering fixed-scope projects (migrations, deployments, modernizations) on schedule and on budget, and a clear story about the one that went sideways and what you did about it.
- Working fluency in the technology you will be managing: cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud), Microsoft 365, identity, networking, and virtualization. You do not need to configure it, but you need to know enough to challenge an estimate and recognize risk.
- Strong client-facing communication, comfortable in front of both executives and engineers, in writing and in the room.
- PMP certification (or actively pursuing it) strongly preferred; experience running waterfall, Agile, and hybrid delivery as the work demands.
- Hands-on experience with delivery tooling such as Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar.
- Experience managing third-party vendors and coordinating change through formal change-management processes.
- Self-directed and organized, comfortable owning outcomes across multiple engagements without being chased.
