Actively Hiring
Azure Architect (Infrastructure & DevOps)
$110K-$125K CAD
Position Details
BITSUMMIT is hiring an Azure Architect who owns both sides of the cloud: the infrastructure design and the DevOps practices that deliver it. This is a hands-on, client-facing role for someone who can stand at a whiteboard with stakeholders, design a secure and well-governed Azure environment, and then build the pipelines and automation that ship it reliably.
You will lead cloud engagements end to end, from landing-zone architecture and networking to CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and platform operations. We are looking for an architect who is equally comfortable reasoning about a hub-and-spoke network and writing the Bicep or Terraform that provisions it, and who can mentor delivery teams along the way.
Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Architecture
- Design secure, scalable Azure architectures: landing zones, hub-and-spoke networking, identity, and governance aligned to the Azure Well-Architected Framework and Cloud Adoption Framework.
- Architect IaaS and PaaS solutions across compute, storage, networking, and data, with high availability and disaster recovery built in.
- Define governance, security, and cost-management guardrails using Azure Policy, management groups, RBAC, and budgets.
- Lead cloud migrations and modernization, from assessment and landing-zone build to workload migration and cutover.
DevOps & Automation
- Build and own CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions for application and infrastructure delivery.
- Implement infrastructure-as-code with Bicep and/or Terraform, including reusable modules, environments, and state management.
- Design containerized and platform workloads on AKS, App Service, and Azure Functions, with automated build, release, and rollback.
- Establish observability, secrets management, and security scanning across the pipeline (Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, DevSecOps practices).
Delivery & Leadership
- Run client engagements end to end: requirements, solution design, estimates, and hands-on delivery.
- Produce architecture diagrams, runbooks, and documentation, and lead knowledge-transfer sessions with client teams.
- Mentor engineers and uplift cloud and DevOps maturity across delivery teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years in IT with deep, hands-on Azure architecture and engineering experience.
- Proven track record designing Azure landing zones, networking, identity, and governance for enterprise environments.
- Strong infrastructure-as-code skills with Bicep and/or Terraform, used in real delivery, not just proofs of concept.
- Hands-on CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions across both application and infrastructure pipelines.
- Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, AKS) and at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
- Solid grasp of cloud security, identity (Entra ID), and cost optimization.
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable leading client conversations and explaining trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Azure certifications strongly preferred: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) and/or DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400).
Case Study Challenge (One-Page Submission)
A national organization is migrating from on-premises infrastructure to Azure and wants a secure, repeatable cloud platform. As workloads move, the team is running into several hurdles:
- There is no standardized landing zone. Each team spins up resources ad hoc, creating sprawl and inconsistent security.
- Deployments are manual and error-prone, with no infrastructure-as-code and no reliable CI/CD.
- Cloud spend is climbing with little governance or cost visibility.
Your task is to outline:
- A landing-zone and governance approach (management groups, Azure Policy, networking, and identity) that standardizes how teams deploy.
- An infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD strategy (Bicep or Terraform with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) that makes deployments repeatable, auditable, and safe to roll back.
- How you would build security and cost guardrails into both the platform and the pipeline.
- A migration approach that moves workloads with minimal disruption and a clear rollback path.
